Persian Cardamom Muffin, known as “Cake Yazdi” – کیک یزدی – is a Traditional Persian Recipe that takes its name after the Beautiful and Ancient City of Yazd in the Center of Iran.

Yazdi or Persian Cardamom Muffin is one of the Most Delicious and Popular Muffins among Iranians.

These Light Muffins have a Hint of Sweetness and are paired with an amazing combination of Rose water and Cardamom.

For those of us that are away from Home, this Cupcake with its amazing Rosewater Aroma take us back Home with evoking a sweet Memories of Eating Cake Yazdi in Iran.

This Recipe is Incredibly Easy to make with only a Few Ingredients.

Also, these cupcakes don’t require any Frosting since they are topped with Chopped Pistachio and Sesame Seeds!

Besides being Super Easy to make, these Cupcakes are Super Healthy and Light that can be a Great Guilt-Free Snack, Dessert or even a Breakfast for you!

Ingredients for Persian Cardamom Muffins:

  • Rose Water
  • Cardamom Powder
  • Eggs
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Whole Milk Plain Yogurt
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Finley Chopped Pistachios
  • Honey

How to make Persian Cardamom Muffins:

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit, and Line a Muffin Tin with Liners. 

Step 2:

In a Medium bowl, whisk flour, and baking powder together and set aside. 

Step 3:

In a large bowl, with Electric Hand Mixer, beat eggs, add sugar, and continue mixing until fully combined. 

Step 4:

Add the Following ingredients in order and add one at a time: Add in Vegetable Oil, Plain yogurt, Rose Water, cardamom and Mix well. 

Step 5:

Add half of the flour mixture to the egg wet ingredients. Mix well. 

Add in the rest of the flour mixture. Mix until combined. 

Step 6:

Using an Ice Cream Scoop, spoon the batter into the cupcake liners until 2/3 full.

Top 6 of the “muffins” with sesame seeds.

Step 7:

Bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 Minutes, until the muffins are golden brown.

Do a test with a toothpick with inserting in the muffins to make sure it comes out clean.

Step 8:

Once baked, take the muffins out of the oven. In a small bowl combine 1 Tbsp Honey with 1 tsp Hot Water

Brush the Honey Mixture over the rest of the Muffins and top them with Chopped Pistachios.

Let them cool for 15 minutes.
